austiiiiiiiiin Damn good black metal. The melodies are addicting waves of balanced interplay, with subtle nuances mixed in. The vocals come and go in sometimes unexpected moments, leaving the instruments to continue the vocal pattern. I am captivated. Favorite track: Ethereal.

Frosty Bear Angry Metal Guy's review brought this album to my attention, and I loved this part of the review (as a summary): "The one thing that Upon the Edge of Darkness absolutely nails is its aesthetic. This collection doesn’t just sound evil and frozen, it sounds epically evil and frozen. "

I general prefer my black metal along the lines of a Dissection influence, but sometimes I need things to slow down and spread out. Favorite track: Ethereal.
